The film is based on the Pokémon universe launched in 1996 and this is the fourth film of the franchise to be released in France, the latter "Detective Pikachu" is the first in real shots.
The film begins on a scene where a creature escapes from an experimental laboratory and later a lightning strikes a car causing an accident. Tim Goodman lives in a small community, he lost his mother being very young and is raised by his grandmother, his father is a detective in the city of Ryme-City where humans and pokémons live in harmony and that since Howard Clifford who had a degenerative disease found ways to make people live with a pokemon companion. The young Tim is the only one not to have pokemon and on the advice of a friend, he tries to capture one but he fails miserably. He will learn of the death of his father, who has known little, in an accident and he will go to the great metropolis Ryme-City is a compromise between London and Tokyo with a chouia New York. Inspector Yoshida, who was the duo of his father, receives him with all his consideration and will hand him the keys of his apartment and Tim goes to the lobby of the building he will meet Lucy Stevens, a pretty young girl who is an intern journalist and who would like to find the scoop that would launch his career. While searching the apartment of his father he will find a test tube containing a purple gas which almost poisoned him and he must open the window to let escape the emanations and it is there that he hears noise and he is surprised to find himself face to face with Pikachu ...
Here is a film that shows humans and Pokémon living in symbiosis and each person is accompanied by his pokémon. Tim will have the chance to inherit his father's and it's Pikachu, so much the better because in my ignorance of pokémons, he is the only one who tells me something and that I would recognize if I came across one in the street. The pokemon does not speak where at least nobody can understand them, when Pikachu says a sentence yet sensible, his interlocutor only hears "pika-pika" which has the gift to make him angry, on the other hand Tim understands perfectly what Pikachu says and a collaboration will then be established to try to find out what really happened in the accident of his father. What is curious is that Tim's father was accompanied by Pikachu during this car accident, but unfortunately the pokemon has been affected by amnesia since. Will then follow a very thorough investigation and we will even realize that humanity is in real danger. Of course this film has the particularity of using real shots with pokemons that cohabit with each human is technically well done. The story is quite whimsical, but it seems to appeal to many young people who are broken into pokémon's story of course. The thread was previewed.

Here is a film that made me the effect of a real wet firecracker. First of all because his scenario is not only hyper-suited but also treated in the first degree. Secondly because Pikachu's sidekick role is just as sloppy. It is not enough to put on a cap of Sherlock Holmes and the voice of Deadpool (Ryan REYNOLDS) so that it miraculously adopts their personality. Similarly a subliminal image of black film on TV is not enough to recreate "Who wants the skin of Roger Rabbit"? (1988) who had a real director's vision in addition to being a technical feat that "Pokémon detective Pikachu" is not. The interactions between the virtual world and the real world have not been more worked than the rest of the film. "Pokémon Detective Pikachu" is ultimately just a pure commercial product formatted to stroke in the direction of the hair fans of the Pokémon universe and more generally fans of pop culture.

I do not have much to say about it, it's a nice movie access for children, to take as such.

It's not perfect, but it makes the job ok, it's funny, and the Pokemon universe is very well transcribed.

Judged better adaptation of Video Games by some, I find it a bit exaggerated in view of the lack of objectivity on other films of these same critics.

For a me, a good family movie reminiscent of a good child playground ... Probably a new youth for this franchise business.
