Another adaptation for Stephen King ...

Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer realize this new version of "Simetierre" ("Pet sematary" in VO) and it is rather a pleasant surprise, despite a variation compared to the novel, and therefore to the film of Mary Lambert in 1989. The story is pretty much the same, of course, but the two directors give themselves a little freedom that they use judiciously, even if the King version was much more frightening. They know how to make their audience shudder and their version is well enough to impress. In addition, we can find matches with other adaptations of the King, including "Shining" to which the scene of the beginning and another scene where waves of blood come out of a monte charge refer and an evocation of "Cujo" in substantive dialogues.

The actors are very well chosen. No star but a very professional cast, with a young talented actress who plays the daughter of the family, Throws Laurence. Note the performance of John Lithgow, unrecognizable under his beard old rogue of the American flood.

It is sometimes difficult to pass behind a good film, that of Marie Lambert, and to appropriate the story. Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer arrive brilliantly and "Simetierre" is a good horror film that may give you cold sweats.

It is an adaptation of the novel of the master of the fantastic, Stephen King published in 1983. It is the second adaptation of the book, the first dating back to 1990.
Dr. Louis Creed, his wife Rachel and their two children left the Boston metropolis to settle in a rural Maine town, with a house away from the city and adjoining a forest. Here is a quiet place where the couple can take care of their two children with more free time. The eldest at just eight and a half years old is Ellie, and the youngest is a boy of just two years old, Gage. By cons the house is close to a national road quite frequented by trucks. One day Ellie sees a funny procession, young people wearing animal masks carrying a bag. It turns out that further in the forest is a cemetery for pet animals. Out of curiosity she goes to see her animals buried with a stele indicating their name, in the bottom of this improvised cemetery is a huge pile of wood and Ellie proposes to climb it, but she is stung by a wasp and falls, fortunately Jud Crandall who is the immediate neighbor of the Creeds, is there and will remove the sting and cover the wound with earth to ease the pain. For his part, Dr. Creed will receive a young student who was hit by a car and is in serious condition, he will try to save her, unfortunately the boy will die, while the doctor is alone with the corpse, he goes to see him get up and talk to him, at that moment a nurse suddenly enters the room and the disappointed doctor puts that on the account of the emotion ...
The title of the film comes from the cemetery of animals in the forest and a child wrote the name of the place with a misspelling. Of course it is Stephen King, but in this novelist there is often to drink and eat, it must also be said that he has the art to thrill the reader. The film is of course in the same vein and the director adds, it's good war, as for example this truck that runs at full speed on the road when we least expect it. The resuscitated cat has a mouth not possible and one really wonders why he manages to move the little girl. Many events are a little telephoned, that is to say that we expect what will happen and the conclusion in many novels of the master of the fantastic is often fatal. But as we said above, there is often good in his creations, this one did not pack me, far from it. Being a good spectator I could have put three stars, but we must differentiate the creations of the week and the coast has fallen to two, however you can make your opinion, do not go to the midnight session if you have to go home on foot.
